app upgrade question

Hi

We are in the process of upgrading peoplesoft application from 9.0 to 9.2 in one of our prod database,during testing we noticed there are some additional objects created like additional indexes,additional columns,change in execution plan,change of object stats which ultimately caused so many performance issues.


we managed to solve those issues one by one....In some cases we created profiles which seems to  fix the issue, we have planned to migrate those profiles in production.

can you give some general advice or strategy that should be taken before upgrades like this  and that would stop the issues to reoccur in production
