Search QBE by absolute value?

One of the users I support asked if there is a way to search by absolute value in a numeric field in the QBE line.  Here are two examples of when he would like to do this:

 

1) In searching the Item Ledger, he is often looking for quantities that have gone in and out. For example, he may want to see all instances of 4,000 grams being received and issued out. Hence, he would like to see all +4000 & -4000 transactions.

2) Also, in searching the account ledger, the same idea applies with dollars. Instead of querying on just debits to the account for a value, or just credits to the account for that value, it would be beneficial to see both the debits and the credits at the same time.
