Default value of descriptive Flexfield

A descriptive Flexfield PEM_ATTRIBUTE8 has been set a default value "No". But when a new  candidate created, it still pop up error message "The mandattory column PEM_ATTRIBUTE8 has not been assigned a value." This field is on qualification and skill page.

Does anybody know what's wrong with this field? How to fix it?
