cost hooks to calculate average cost for reporting currency

Hi

My company doesn't  want to use Oracle standard functionality to calculate the average cost of inventory items for our reporting currency. Is it possible to use a cost hook to do the calculation the way my company requires it to be done. We are on R12.1.2
