upgrade aix 5.3 to aix 7.1

Hi,

we have a two node cluster running aix 5.3, database 10g r2.

Our admins are planning to upgrade the servers to 7.1 one node at a time.

My question is, will Oracle RAC permit this? one node on aix 7.1 and the other on aix 5.3 (this is the in between stage before they upgrade the second node)

I read in ibm documentation that these two versions are binary compatible with each other.
