RMAN Backup Strategy in Active DataGuard Environment

I need advice and direction on RMAN backup strategy in ADG environment [ORA 11.2.0.3] with one physical Standby database.  I have a recovery catalog.  Backups go to disk, tape not an option.  Not using Flash Recovery Area.  My confusion is, do I backup Standby only, Primary only, or both?  Would appreciate learning what others have found to be best practice.
