Search Start Menu items - Advanced vs Contributor display?

Okay, I'm missing something here (probably obvious too!)


What defines whether you see a search start menu item under the Advanced or Contributor UIs? For example, in avisports, Attribute shows in Advanced but not Contributor. Article shows in Contributor but not Advanced.

I'm not seeing anything in the search menu definition which dictates where it appears (apart from maybe role but 'any role' doesn't seem to make things show up in both interfaces). Where is this controlled from?
