CSI: Auto-split Instances During Instantiation -- how to change this behavior without changing the p

I'm working for a large company having multiple IT groups.  The value of the 'CSI: Auto-split Instances During Instantiation' profile option has been set to 'Yes' for the entire company, and our group cannot change it.  It's my understanding that this profile option is only set-able at the site level; that is, our group cannot change it for a certain application or a given user.

However, we have the following problem.  We are using Installed Base records to track how many "seats" or licenses our customers have bought for a given software product.  Let's say we've sold a site license to a customer, and under that site license, they've bought 5 seats/licenses of software product 111, and 3 seats/licenses of software product 222.
