Having issues connecting to \\fqdn

I have a zfs device running the latest 2011 release joined to my AD domain.

The domain is a Win2003 domain but contains Windows 2008, and Windows 2008 R2 Domain controllers.

When I attempt to connect to the SMB service on the appliance:

\\<ip address> - works great

\\server - works great

\\server.fqdn - does not work

My attempt to connect via fqdn gives this error:

System error 1240 has occurred.

The account is not authorized to log in from this station.

I've checked:

DNS (search, ptr's and SRV records)

NTP/Clocks

Enabled smb signing

Any other suggestions?
