How to Remove Accounts and their Associated Contacts in a Mass Delete

We are in the process of cleaning up data in our CRM instance and trying to find an efficient way of doing this.

Is there a simple way to mass delete Accounts and their Associated Contacts?  As far as I can tell, when performing a Mass Delete is has to be done when managing a List and then performing a mass delete.  But this again Lists have to be managed only by the pages like the Account page, Contact page, Opp page, ect. so you cannot build a List across pages for example, cannot build a list for Accounts and Contacts and perform a mass delete.
