ORA-46260 Error during Scheduled Job Execution

I am running a nightly job to clean up audit log files from the adump directory.  Half of the time the job works fine and the files are removed from disk, however, the other half of the time I receive the following error message:

ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job "SYS"."AUDIT_CLEANUP"

ORA-46260: Error during audit trail cleanup

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT", line 2392

ORA-06512: at line 1

Through some research I have been unable to find any helpful information other than this excerpt from the Oracle Database Error Messages Doc:
