Tomcat question regarding ODSEE Installation on SLES 11.3

We would like to use the Tomcat software that is bundled with SLES 11.3 but run into 'permission' problems because Tomcat was not installed with the same userid and password as the Directory Server. Is there any way to get around this? Or must I install a separate version of Tomcat to run specifically with the Directory Server?
We had no issues when we downloaded Tomcat from their website but we are looking for a solution that would allow us to use the Tomcat that is bundled with Suse. Any suggestions?
