Using "sysdate" as the Date Placed In Service in Web ADI

We have set up an ADI template for CIP additions.  We want to default the "sysdate" as the Date Placed in Service.  When I change the Default Type to "Environment" and type "sysdate" in the Default Value field, it errors when I try to apply the changes to the template.  It returns the following message:

"Please resolve the following error to continue. Invalid default name sysdate for field Date Placed in Service"

From the Web ADI documentation, I thought that sysdate was a default you were allowed to set using the Environment default type.

Howdy, Stranger!
