Bank statement import for collection account

Hello Team,

We are implementing cash management for our collection accounts.While importing the bank statement at the start of new period, we noticed that bank statement does not get import if AR period is in closed status(AR period closes on BD+5). I was under impression that application will allow us to import the bank statement however it will not allow us to perform any accounting as period is close. Bank statement gets imported if we keep next period in future open status. This will become a process change for business as they do not perform this currently.

Please let me know if we are missing anything here.
