APP-AR-42536 Error after tax rule is applied

I get APP-AR-42536 once I've applied an expert rule.  The account flexfield basically disappears.  Instead of 10-111111-00-0000 for instance, I get 10-XXXXXX-00-0000 where X = blank.  I'm not sure why this is occurring.  Is there a fix to this?
