Forecasts for WIP items when unsure of specific FG item

I have read up on Planning Items in JDE World, but I don't think they are quite the correct fit - since they suggest being able to forecast the sales mix of the end items.

Our issue is different.

In a huge swath of our business, the specific FG item can vary greatly - we custom decorate many 1,000's of products, and the artwork specifics of the end customer are ever changing. Many times the FG item is generated in the F4101/F4102 only a few days before the production is run and the order is shipped - so loading a forecast against the FG item is near impossible - it largely will not even exist before it would be too late to react to a forecast.
