Tips to improve overall performance (especially in the configurator) ?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions/tips to improve overall performance? I have gone through the performance tuning guide but it seems that Siebel generates thousands of queries, to do a single order we typically execute ~100k queries. Almost all of these queries run in < 1 second but there are so many of them. What is the best approach to reduce the sheer number of queries?

Info:

All servers are linux RHE5

Siebel 8.1.1.7

Product model is enormous (over 2k products all under 1 hierarchy)
