Parent-child mass change retire

I want to retire assets by mass change using parent-child assets. I included a parent in the mass change but I left out its child. When I did the whole mass change by retirement, the parent was retired but the child is still in service. Shouldn't Peoplesoft present an error or a warning before doing the mass change?
