Decimal quantity in Sales/Purchase orders

Hello,

My primary UOM (unit of measure) in my JDE 9.1 system is Kilograms (Kg).

When I currently enter an SO (Sales order) or an OP (Purchase Order), with a decimal quantity (ex: 1.2 kg), the system automatically updates it to 1 and fills the price as for 1 unit.

My question is:

Is it recommended to change the Data Dictionary (DD) type to take decimals in the quantity, and then i can put fraction units in the SO and OP (1.2 kg or 2.5 Kg)?

Is there any disadvantage or drawback to this method?

Would it create any problems in other related transactions?

Thank you,

Howdy, Stranger!
