Pre-default field at Applet level

We have a requirement to pre-default the field value at applet level. We can not make predefault at BC level because same field is exposed in 4 different Applets which are based on this BC. And we need to have pre-default value for this field only in 2 Applets. Is this requirement is feasible to achieve by some configuration? Please help.
