Extending a 7120 with a DE2-24P shelf

Hi,

I have a customer with a 7120 purchased early 2013 with 11 * 300GB 15k rpm drives and a 73GB SSD. All drives are internal to the 7120 at present. We now need to expand this by adding a DE2-24P with 12 * 900GB 10k rpm drives.  We want to create a new separate pool for the new 900GB drives.  We achieve our redundancy via a second 7120 at a remote site.

Q1. Can the DE2-24P be configured with 6, 12 or 18 drives of the same type?  We'd prefer not to fully populate at present.

Q2: If we were to later fully populate, could we spread the existing data over all drives without downtime?
