Archive Logs getting deleted-Physical standby

Gurus,

11203 RHEL RAC primary and physical standby with ADG.

Some of the archivelogs are getting delete which are not applied on standby yet,how isit possible since RMAN will never delete the ones which are not applied in dataguard configuration by default ,correct?

I don't have archivelog deletion policy setup on primary ,do i have to set it up- i thought RMAN by default will never deletes them in dataguard.

Please recommend the archivelog  deletion policy if i do the backups from Primary.
