Active Servlet Sessions

in Oracle Weblogic Server (MOSC)

Hi. We have a new installation of WLS 10.3.6 on RH Linux. I 've observed when there is a larger load on the system than normal, the servlet session count can go up to 90,000. Its usually around the 150 mark. This seems to coincide with a lock on a database table which is part of the application stack. Can anyone tell me please why this number goes so high? After the lock problem has gone this session number remains high then slowly comes down as Garbage Collections are done.

The jdbc connections to the database goes up slightly from 32 to 40. It can go up to 60 and then the application falls over.
