removing garbage from data fields

I have an application written in Oracle Apex 4.2.3

The source of the data was a mainframe application

Some of the fields contain data AFTER the real data

Is there are way to remove this without reloading the data and without removing the real data, ie write a query that updates the field and deletes certain characters

For example, in the attached screen print the field TITLE contains the word Alderman ( correct) followed by a string of  unreadable characters
