How to create a new Tab

Hi

I have created/edited a new Custom Object. I have created fileds & layouts. But I do not see them in the Tabs Along with the other tabs like : Home, Account, Leads etc. How do I configure CRM OD to get this view of new Custom Object? Also, I am not able to create a record for this Custom Object, neither I see them in downloadable WSDL.

Can anyone please let me know what I migh tbe missing here.
