Can an existing discrete item be converted into OPM item?

Hi

Can an existing discrete item be converted into OPM item? Following is the scenario..

1. ItemA is a discrete item in Item Master Organization (IMO) and inventory stock & transactions exists in Org1

2. After some time Org1 will be end dated and Org2 will be newly created (as OPM org) and want to assign ItemA to it.

In the above scenario, since ItemA in IMO is as discrete item, can it be changed to OPM item?

Will there be any impact? Need your suggestions on stock transfer
