EBS 12.2 Linux silent install

Is it possible to install EBS 12,2 on Linux silently?  I have tried the -silent option and this still displays the progress window.  The help suggests that using the -progress_only flag will perform a truly silent install but this cannot be supplied with the -silent option, and without it ignores the config file and prompts for all of the data to be input.  Is it worth trying to use a headless X windows installation, or will this prevent other things from working?

I am working with version 12.2.0.47 of the installer on 64bit OEL 5.7.
