11.2.0.4 GI with 11.2.0.4 Database w/10.2.0.5 compatible parameter or a 10.2.0.5 Database

Hi All,

I am trying to understand the differences between running a 11.2.0.4 Database home with a 10.2.0.5 compatible parameter versus a 10.2.0.5 Database home.

I have a 3rd party application (OpenText) that is migrating to a new platform (Oracle OVM Solaris Sparc 10). The current database is running 10.2.0.5 RAC and I need to migrate to the new environment with the database staying at 10.2.0.5 until a later scheduled upgrade. I see my best options as running

11.2.0.4 Grid with either 11.2.0.4 RAC database with 10.2.0.5 compatible or 10.2.0.5 RAC database.

The application team wants 10.2.0.5 Oracle. We had to convince them to go with 11.2.0.4 Grid and want to understand the difference between the 2 options for the database above.
