Stuck Tape ? These procedures can help
If a 'stuck tape' is suspected, before any physical intervention is attempted to remove that tape, review Doc ID 1531401.1
For assistance in manually dismounting the cartridge, reference Doc ID 1387884.1
If a tape is found to be physically damaged (ie. broken tape leader), check if the drive is still functional (load and unload) using a different cartridge.
If the tape leader is broken on the stuck tape, you can try to splice the tape, in order to wind it back into the cartridge (Scotch tape can be used to splice). If that's not possible or there are any other issues related to the drive or tape, you may need to open a Service Request, to discuss having a Field Engineer come out to help and/or discuss what data recovery options there are.
