Can I use revision for BOM ?

I would like to use PTO BOM revision ( not alt BOM) and would like to use this revision while entering item.

Oracle has provided revision field at bill header level. It seems that I cann't not define BOM revision as this revision is for assembly item revision.

a) Is my understanding correct ?

b) If yes, then how we will use BOM revision while entering sales order ? Any work around if there is no seeded  functionality
