Updating firmware on M3000-M9000 servers - a little tutorial

in SPARC M-series servers (MOSC)

Dear community members,

from time to time Oracle releases new firmware versions for the so-called OPL servers due to enhancements, defects fixed etc.

Chances are that in the course of a service request you are working together with us the engineer will recommend an update if the most recent

version of that firmware is not installed on the system.

For those of you interested in a little step-by-step guide I will provide the details here.

Let's get started with some insight into the facts and wherabouts:

The M3000-M9000 servers are the Olympus Product Line - OPL.

They all have one (M3000,M4000,M5000) ore more (M8000,M9000) controlling facilities called
