Force tab update per role

Hello All,

I have been modifying tab visibily for some of the roles in CRM.  What I am noticing is that the tabs do not show up automatically.  The user has to go into their "My Setup " -> "Personal layout"  -> "tab layout" and move the tab they want to see to the "selected tabs" window. Can I force this update?
