Primary Checkbox does not show in filtering lists (SHOW WHERE RESULTS)

I have a list which I made for my contacts and I have a column PRIMARY (Checkbox) which however does not reflect the actual content of the Contact in the respective Account.

For example - I have a Contact called Jane Francis as the primary contact In Account ACME COMPUTER PARTS 1 but the list does not have the Check box selected and over to that when I try to filter the values - I do not see the PRIMARY column in the drop down for SHOW RESULTS WHERE.

Please let me know if there is any restriction using the PRIMARY field and also why is this not showing the actual content - what is the relevance of this field? Is the PRIMARY field showing the Account and the PRIMARY field showing inthe Contact Refer to the same data ?
