Oracle process starts on reboot but the database does not

Hello,

I am new to Oracle on OEL 6.4 and Oracle 11g.  I have an OEL server that does not start the database after a reboot.  The process smon is running but I need to log into the instance as sysadm and issue the startup command to mount and open the one database that is defined in the instance.

When do I find the startup script that would make the database startup command part of the overall reboot process?

Thank you.
