Rebuildable Asset

In our new instance when I do a receipt into inventory for my Rebuildable, the system records the serial number but it is not creating an asset number.  Query in EAM will show the serial number instance but an asset number is not present and the field cannot be updated, I receive an error.  This is working in our other instance.  I have a work around, I can create an asset number/serial number combination from eAM but this is not the desired process.

Has anyone else had an issue with the insert functionality?
