raw devices vs partitions for ASM (no RAC) disks on Linux RHE

Hi,

We have some Linux RHE 5 and RHE 6 boxes

On these boxes we are going to install 11.2.0.3 Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server. So we will setup ASM and build 11gR2 databases on top of it.

For the ASM disks we created raw (unpartitioned) block devices (instead of partititons).

I would like to know if the above choice (no use of disks partitions) may have some side effects I ignore (supportability, performance, maintenance)
