How to Set Profile Attribute in Siebel Open UI PM/PR?

Hi,

I am working on a scenario where I need to set a profile attribute in a Presentation Model of an Applet and then retrieve it in another applet PR to check a flag. I searched OpenUI documentation and couldn't find any OOTB Class which can be used to set profile attribute directly. Please help!
