how to temporarily disable a port on an emulux hba card for system maintenance

We have an M4000 server with Solaris 10 update 9 installed and these have 2 emulex HBA cards and 2 ports in each card.

My EMC SAN administrator has fibre cables plugged into both ports on both HBA cards to connect them to switches through to our VNX SAN.

He is wanting to remove the cable from one of the ports on each HBA card, so he can plug them into another switch.

We are using MPXIO for the multipathing software.

However, he is concerned that there may be a blip if he unconfigures the connections to the ports on the EMC side.

Are there any commands available in Solaris 10 to identify the port id's and then disable the ports during the maintenance and then enable them again afterwards?

Howdy, Stranger!
