R12.1.3 : adpatch error

Hi,

according to Doc ID 874705.1 that i can use hot patch utilty without closing application 
when i use
$ adpatch option=hotpatch
the following appear

                                 Version 12.0.0

      unless you have written permission from Oracle Corporation.

Invalid argument: option
