How do maintenance Work Orders account for Work In Process across a period closing?

In my status meetings regarding implementation of the Equipment/Plant Maintenance the accounting staff has asked how to account for inventory that is being used across a month-end but the work order is not complete? Additionally I can't seem to locate any processes to "Close" the work order just short of manually changing the Work Order Status. The Work Order Inventory Issue program, P31111, has the option (9) to Close Out Line and it tags the Parts List Item as Closed Out.

Our point of reference is from the Manufacturing Work Orders that have a Back Flush process that issues the materials and creates the Finished Goods. As well that process has a WIP accounting status for products that are not completed prior to month-end.

Howdy, Stranger!
