Updating lot on wsh_delivery_details

HI

We are using the update shipping attributes API and passing in a valid lot. the API does not update. My quesiton , since there is a lot number already on the wsh_delivery_details should we be updating the lot using inventory reservaiton api

Any suggesitons would be helpful
