Infiniband Vs Fibre Channel

We are planning to migrate from, 2 node RAC ,  11gR2 RAC to 12c RAC and Oracle partners will be giving some demo on the technologies available in the market next week. Our sys admin said Infiniband is much costlier over fibre channel. Where are these two used in 2 node RAC?
