Why do we get conflict message when applying the 8.1.1.11 Patch set 5 on top of 8.1.1.11 patch set 4

Here is the sample conflict message:

Patch [ 811115 ] conflict with patch(es) [  811114 ] in the Oracle Home.
To resolve patch conflicts please contact Oracle Support Services.
If you continue, patch(es) [  811114 ] will be rolled back and the new Patch  [ 811115 ] will be installed.

Answer:

Note in Readme file says that , " Although Siebel Patchset releases  are cumulative, the Siebel Patchset Installation Guide for each Patchset
release lists only the bugs that were resolved in that particular Patchset. To access information about fixes provided in previous Patchsets, see Siebel Patchset Installation Guides for Siebel CRM  8.1.1.11 / 8.2.2.4 IP2013 on My Oracle Support (Doc ID 1614310.1)."


So based on the above note, all the Patch sets are cumulative. So you can continue installing with latest Patch set which will replace the old patch set. But new patch set will include fix for old patch set too
