How does PIT of Pluggable database work with MML?

Hello Experts,

In case of PDB PIT restore, RMAN creates an Auxiliary Instance using which it does the recovery. If backups are on the tape , then how does the restore will happen?

Will the Auxiliary instance talk to MML for the required pieces or the target database instance will ?

Kindly explain.
