Audit Trail in Fixed Assets in R12

Hello

We want to track the location changes for every asset defined. We have not enabled Audit Trail. However its seen that the FA_DISTRIBUTION_HISTORY table keeps a track on the location changes. Do we still need to enable Audit trail on Fixed Asset tables? What is the best way to get a trail of locations for an asset during the asset's lifecycle?
