Difference between remove combinations and Delete Item

HI All,

7.3.0.2

We have obselte items in Demantra.

Which is the recommended process to remove items out of Demantra.

1) Remove Combinations- We are removing combinations and running some scripts in the background to remove records from Sales Data table. basically two step process

2) Can we delete item 'member' by right clicking--is this recommended..what does it do..will this remove item from all key tables.
