Maximum NE Connection Limit for an NEP?

How is the MAX connections to particular NEP determined? We have a requirement to increase the total number of connections to network platform by 40 more. This connection increase to network element will increase/add connections to corresponding NEP configured for that particular NE. Currently mentioned NEP is having 151 connections. Addition of max connections to network element as 40 more will increase the total number of connections to particular NEP by 191.

Queries
1) Is there any threshold of max connections for a particular NEP? eg: increasing from 150 to 191 will not be possible because of specific max limit ?
2) What difference will a particular NEP has if total number of connections are increased?
