Help Purifying BRM

Can anyone show me a more detailed guide on how to purify BRM with custom opcodes/modules? I find the one in the documentation insufficient. especially this part "To build a Purify version, you modify the source file to include your custom FMs and then compile." Do i have to modify cm.cpp, the Makefile? Also, do i have to compile the custom modules using purify? I have only tried and successfully compile the cm.cpp OOB  with purify and started cm but i can't really tell in purify gui if it is running the custom opcode source code.
