Calculated URL Field in HI Client shows as Raw HTML in Open UI

We have a list applet column which is a calculated field with an expression like:

"<A HREF='"http://www.yahoo.com"' target=_new >Yahoo</A>"

This shows up as a clickable link in the ActiveX client which launches a new tab with Yahoo. (Yahoo is just an example to illustrate the design.)

In Open UI however this list column shows up as raw HTML which is not clickable.

Doing an 'Inspect Element' in Chrome shows:
