Service contract breaks for ATO model

Hi

We have an issue with service contract breakage when * items received for repair in depot repair module. High level process is

1.    -Item is sold to a customer with sales order

-ATO Model is entered to the SO

-ATO Model is configurated

-Item is manufactured

-Item is shipped out: This is where the warranty contract generates

-Item is received into depot repair process. The receiving is done to the *item. In the receiving phase the link between *item and ATO model breaks. At the same time the *item loses WAR contract linkeage

Any workarounds available for this
